PARIS 2024 SKATEBOARD STREET BETTING PREDICTIONS

PARIS 2024 SKATEBOARD STREET BETTING PREDICTIONS

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games are upon us, and skateboarding will once again take to the Olympic stage. The competition will be held at the historic Place de la Concorde, which will host the Olympic Parc Urbain. The venue can accommodate up to 25,000 people a day, and competing in front of a cheering crowd will no doubt add another level of energy for the skaters to feed off compared to Tokyo’s empty stands.

The Men’s Street event is first out on July 27 with an absolutely stacked field where 90% of the skaters have the skills to walk away with the win. So, on whom should you place your money? Well, there are always some names that stick out and are known to rise to the occasion when there is added pressure. Let’s dive into our picks and predictions for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games men’s skateboard street event. If you are wondering why Ginwoo Onodera is not on the list even though he is clearly one of the favorites to win this event, it is because of his young age. Wagering on underage athletes is illegal, so we will have to wait until the LA 2028 Games before we can back Ginwoo.

FAVORITES
Yuto Horigome
Odds:
6.5

At the top of the list, we find Yuto Horigome. That the defending Olympic Champion can deal with pressure is an understatement; just look at how he qualified. After a couple of mediocre performances in the Olympic Qualifier Series in Dubai and Shanghai, he needed to win the last event in Budapest to make it onto the very competitive Japanese team, and in typical Yuto fashion, he locked it down with two trick attempts to spare.

With his consistency and unique bag of tricks, there is a big chance that he will be back-to-back Olympic Champion on July 27. The only question mark is that he recently pulled out of X Games Ventura due to an injury. How serious this injury is and how it will affect his performance in Paris remains to be seen.

Nyjah Huston
Odds:
4.5

No big surprise here. Nyjah Huston, the winningest street skater of all time, excels under pressure and will be looking to redeem himself from the Tokyo Olympics, where he only finished 7th.

Nyjah has had an ok season by his standards with a couple of third-place finishes and a win at the SLS APEX 02. He is also coming fresh off of wins in both street and best trick at X Games Ventura and has now tied Shaun White (snowboard) and Garrett Reynolds (BMX) for the most X Games gold medals of all time, so he certainly has the momentum going into the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Jagger Eaton
Odds:
6.00

Rounding out our list of favorites is Jagger Eaton. With the first two spots on this list being fairly easy to fill, this third one was a bit harder and is a toss-up between a few skaters. Sora Shirai, Gustavo Ribeiro, Aurélien Giraud, and Chris Joslin were all in the discussion, but in the end, we settled for Jagger Eaton due to his consistency, and love him or hate him for it, but he does have that drive and competitive mindset that is sometimes frowned upon in skateboarding but will be a great asset in this competition with the added pressure of Olympic glory on the line.

SLEEPERS
Vincent Milou
Odds:
26.0

Vincent, since his fourth-place finish at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, has continued to improve and impress, getting better and better every year, killing it in the streets, and racking up some decent competition results. That big win has somehow eluded him, and it feels like he is due for a big result. With his high-scoring individual tricks, and ability to put together a run, coupled with the help of the French crowd, his first big win might very well come on home soil at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Giovanni Vianna
Odds:
65.0

The defending SLS Super Crown Champion, Giovanni Vianna, is another skater who is on a constant upward trajectory. The Brazilian has racked up some good results since winning the Super Crown last year, skating in five out of seven finals so far this season with a second-place finish at SLS San Diego as his best result. With an amazing style and a very unique bag of tricks, the Brazilian can very well upset the order in Paris.

LONGSHOT
Kelvin Hoefler
Odds:
31

The silver medalist from Tokyo, Kelvin Hoefler, is our longshot for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Brazilian is almost always in the mix due to his consistency and go-to-trick, a “Halfcab noseslide to backtail.” Can he keep up with Nyjah, Yuto, and some of the others when they go on a tear? No, but as soon as they slip up or push each other too much, he will be right there.
