2022 CORONA OPEN J-BAY ODDS, PICKS, AND PREDICTIONS

2022 CORONA OPEN J-BAY ODDS, PICKS, AND PREDICTIONS

The World Surf League heads to Jeffreys Bay, South Africa for the 9th stop of the 2022 WSL Championship Tour. The event begins on the 12th of July and runs through to the 21st of July. With only two events left before the WSL final at Lower Trestles in September, the pressure is on to make it into the Final Five.

After two events with mediocre conditions, the fast, powerful right-hand pointbreak at J-bay should offer some sorely missed waves fit for the best surfers in the world, after all, it is considered one of the best right-hand pointbreaks in the world.

Below you will find our picks and predictions for the 2022 Corona Open J-Bay. Also, make sure to take a look at our Surfer Stats page for more insights.

FAVORITES
Jack Robinson
Odds:
8.00

With Gabriel Medina out of competition due to a knee injury, Jack Robinson slides into our number one spot, and since the pattern of Colapinto winning followed by Toledo repeated itself from earlier this season, this should mean that Robinson takes this one. Joking aside, Jack Robinson has been solid all season with five top-five finishes including back-to-back wins at Margaret River and G-Land.

Felipe Toledo
Odds:
3.25 - 3.50

Our second pick is Felipe Toledo. To say that Toledo is having a good season would be an understatement. the Brazilian has been in five out of eight finals so far and has been a permanent fixture on our picks list this season. Toledo also has back-to-back wins at J-Bay in 2017 and 2018. So even though we have Robinson as a slight favorite to win, no one would be surprised if Toledo claims his third win at J-Bay.

Jordy Smith
Odds:
7.00 - 7.50

Third, on our list is the hometown hero Jordy Smith. Currently ranked No. 15 on the WSL Championship Tour, the South African hasn’t had the season he had hoped for, but nonetheless, Smith has won this event two times back in 2010 and 2011, and never underestimate homecourt advantage.
